If you opt-in to receive news we will store your name, email address and mailing preferences as part of a marketing dataset on our database server. This data is only available to current GMEU staff and the database server acts as the *only copy so that we can ensure we are always using the latest contact details and preferences. We hold this data for a single purpose, so that we can keep you informed about GMLRC and GMEU news, projects and events. You can change your preferences, or ask to be removed, at any time.
* We retain twenty-four hourly database backups for disaster recovery purposes. These would only ever be used to restore services to normal following a major systems incident.
Comments that you post on public areas of the site are generally accessible and we encourage you to exercise caution if choosing to include personal data as part of a post. You retain the control to edit and delete posts to provide peace of mind.
We use a single cookie, a randomly generated session id e.g. 'jhd3ds0pp1jntcm1pgbiljf348', which enables registered users to login. You can disable cookies at any time but some functions of the website may not work correctly.
We use Google Analytics to understand how our website is used. Google Analytics uses your IP address to allow us to understand:
We take security seriously and we take precautions to keep your personal data secure. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect, including for instance requiring all website traffic to be encrypted (HTTPS) and regularly changing administrator level passwords. Although unauthorised access is highly unlikley, due to the open communication nature of the Internet, GMLRC cannot guarantee that all communications between you and gmwildlife.org.uk, or information stored on the gmwildlife.org.uk server, will be free from unauthorised access by third parties.
